Industrial Equipment Brochure: Water Treatment
Sump Layout for Sump Pit/Lift Station

Typical use of Sump Pit (Lift Station):
  • The equipment is washed using a modern low volume, hot, high pressure washer.
  • A wash pad is designed to keep most of the solids out of the collection system for easy removal.  Typically solids collected at this stage can be considered non-hazardous.
  • The water that comes off of the wash pad flows through a collection trough which removes solids and other debris.   Removable Weirs slow down the water to allow solids to settle, but allow easy clean out.
  • Floating oil is removed by a Belt Oil Skimmer before any pump emulsifies it, making it harder to remove.
  • A Sump Pit (or lift Station) uses a high quality sump pump to deliver water to the rest of the system which is above ground.

Click here for example of how a Sump/Lift Station integrates with one Typical Waste Water Treatment Conceptual Design suitable for a customer with up to a moderate solids load and that has sewer available.

The system shown in this example is a
single-pass sewer discharge system.  Washing is done with fresh water.  The water treatment system removes solids, oils, grease, and other hydrocarbons before delivering it to the sewer.

All solids are above ground and easily removed without having water hauled.  The system shown can have either manual or automatic cone tank decanting and media filter backflushing.  Typically a manual system would need tanks decanted weekly and the media filter backflushed monthly.  We offer affordable service contracts to take care of this and other maintenance needs.  Typical service is done once a month or once every other month.
